Law
School Admission
Steps in the Admission Process:
Prepare for the LSAT.
Use the sample test located on The
Law School Admission Council website or purchase preparation books
online or on paper. The sample LSAT test comes in the form of a PDF file
which you can download.
Register for the LSAT and LSDAS.
LSDAS: it's always wise to register as early as possible
before the first admission deadline comes along.
LSAT: The advantage to registering online is the instant
feedback you get about available space at your test center
Check your school for the exact date of the LSAT. Some schools require
you take the test by December to meet the fall deadline for admission.
Other schools advise taking the test in June or October.
Research law schools and application deadlines.
A good source of information is the ABA-LSAC Official Guide to ABA-Approved
Law Schools which is available on line or in hard copy. Another prime
source of information is the law school representatives you meet at law
school forums.
Admission steps you can accomplish online:
- Ordering additional LSDAS reports
- Getting your LSAT Admission Ticket--this also can be done by mail
- Changing your test date or location
- LSDAS confirmation--this also can be done by mail
- File status checking
Request letters of recommendation and send them to LSAC or directly
to the law schools
LSAC processing make take two weeks
Take the LSAT.
